Make a Fabulous Gift for the Fan in Your Life!

Many years ago, I was inspired to create a line of sports teams and college ornaments when I saw someone at a craft fair in Pittsburgh selling various items made with Pittsburgh Steelers fabric. She had the most popular table at the fair.

Pittsburgh has a long history with its major pro sports teams. It's common to see folks around town wearing their team gear and showing their hometown pride. I wanted in on the action, so for the next craft fair, I designed my Circle Picture Window ornament and made Steelers ornaments with officially licensed fabric. They sold out quickly, and I started taking orders. It was a huge success for my little shop.

Eventually, I created a whole line of university ornaments for my Etsy shop, and for a couple of years, they were my best sellers. Unfortunately, my shop was tagged with a copyright violation (rightly so), and I had to take the items down, but to this day, I still get messages asking if I still sell them.

Now, I make fan ornaments as gifts for friends and family, and they are always well received. If you are looking for a unique gift, you can't go wrong with making an ornament with the logo of your favorite sports team, alma mater, or whatever they're a fan of. The possibilities are endless.

Amazon has an excellent selection of NFL Fabrics, as well as College Team Fabrics.

If you can't find the fabric you need, you can print the image of your choice on fabric if you have an inkjet printer. See my blog post about printing on fabric to learn how.

I love to read as well as craft, and though I would prefer to curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and a paperback, there isn’t enough time in my day. That’s why I love listening to a good audio book while I work on ornaments or cook dinner. I can catch up on my favorite series and still get stuff done. I love a good fantasy/romance (romantacy?) and just finished the 3rd book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. It’s so good, and I highly recommend it.
